Cultural production and festivals

From idea to execution. From execution to continuity.

We structure projects, festivals and cultural actions with planning, governance, viability, production, accessibility, documentation and indicators.

A cultural project needs to move audiences on stage and stay organized off it.

Far beyond the event

Cultural production is structure.

A cultural project begins before registrations open and continues after the last activity ends.

An artistic intention must be turned into clear objectives, programming, budget, responsibilities, schedule, funding mechanisms, operation, communication, records and verifiable results.

JA Produções organizes these dimensions in an integrated way, respecting the context of the project, territory, artists, institutions involved and available resources.

  1. 01Creation guides the project.
  2. 02Management makes its delivery possible.
  3. 03Documentation shows what was delivered.
  4. 04Planning allows it to continue.

Scope of action

What we structure in a cultural project.

The combination of deliverables depends on the nature, stage, resources and objectives of each initiative.

Our method

A project organized in seven stages.

Each initiative has its own needs, but JA’s work follows a logic that allows turning concept into execution and execution into evidence.

  1. Diagnosis

Understanding of context, objectives, territory, audiences, available resources and the project’s current stage.

  2. Project design

Definition of concept, scope, programming, deliverables, goals, strategies and expected results.

  3. Feasibility

Building the budget, schedule, possible funding sources and technical and institutional conditions.

  4. Governance

Distribution of responsibilities, definition of flows, documents, approvals, internal communication and monitoring.

  5. Production

Mobilization of teams, suppliers, artists, venues, equipment, communication, registrations, accreditation and operations.

  6. Verification

Ongoing organization of contracts, records, evidence, reports, indicators and financial documents.

  7. Continuity

Evaluation of results, identification of learnings, maintenance of relations and planning of new cycles.

Accountability does not begin at the end. It begins in planning.

Viability and responsibility

Cultural resources require planning, control and transparency.

JA structures projects to engage with different forms of funding and cooperation, respecting the specific rules of each mechanism and institution. The work may involve technical preparation, budget planning, document organization, execution monitoring and support for delivery documentation. There is no single formula: each public call, incentive mechanism, sponsorship contract or partnership has its own rules.

  • Governance

Responsibilities, decision instances, approval flows and deliverable monitoring.

  • Fundraising and cooperation

Institutional preparation for incentive mechanisms, sponsorships, public calls and partnerships, without a promise of approval or fundraising.

  • Budget management

Organization of resources according to the approved plan, deliverables and applicable requirements.

  • Verification

Building of technical, financial and institutional evidence throughout delivery.

Cultural projects funded by public or incentivized resources must be executed according to their official instruments, approved budgets, contracts and documentation rules.

Festivals and programming

From curation to the audience experience.

Festivals bring together different simultaneous operations. Programming quality depends on integration among artistic content, technical structure, service, communication, accessibility, documentation and management.

Production with responsibility

The cultural project also needs to create conditions for participation and continuity.

Accessibility, social responsibility, sustainability, training and territorial development need to be considered while structuring the project, not added only after programming is ready.

  • Accessibility from the planning stage

Resources, team, communication, circulation and physical structure considered before execution.

  • Training linked to the programming

Workshops, lectures, exchanges and activities that broaden the cultural experience.

  • Articulated impact

Integration with social, environmental, academic or creative-economy actions when coherent with the project.

  • Institutional continuity

Recording of learnings, strengthening of relations and preparation for new cycles.

Cooperation possibilities

Projects at different stages may need different structures.

JA may analyze initiatives still in conception, projects in feasibility stage, already approved programming or operations that need reorganization.

  • 01

    Idea under development

For those who need to turn a cultural intention into objectives, scope, programming and an initial plan.

  • 02

    Project seeking viability

For initiatives that need to organize budget, schedule, documents and funding or cooperation paths.

  • 03

    Approved project

For operations that need to structure governance, production, communication, accessibility, documents and documentation.

  • 04

    Festival in development

For organizations that need to review processes, integrate areas, organize data or prepare continuity.

The initial analysis does not represent a guarantee of approval, sponsorship, fundraising or hiring. Each proposal must be assessed according to its context, documentation, schedule and viability.

Project structuring

At what stage is your cultural initiative?

Present the context, objectives, current stage, available resources and main challenges. From that information, it will be possible to understand which structures the project needs to activate.
